Johor Research Day is a biennial event that has been traditionally jointly organized by the Johor State Health Department (Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Johor, JKNJ) and the Clinical Research Centre network of the Johor state. The Johor CRC network includes 3 CRCs which are located in Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Hospital Sultan Ismail, and Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah (Muar). This year, we are proud to be collaborating with Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed) and the Johor Bahru Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Society (JPENS) this year to organiseĀ thisĀ event.
The objectives of this event include to promote knowledge and culture of research, to increase the awareness of the importance of scientific research and evidence-based knowledge, and also to improve the quality of researchers among all healthcare staff of JKNJ. This includes not only doctors and dentists from the three aforementioned hospitals, but also all the other healthcare professionals and allied health officers from public institutions under the governance of JKNJ. This year, we are also opening our doors to medical students within Johor to come join us for the day.
Why You Should Join?
Johor Research Day is focused on all personnel serving under JKNJ institutions in Johor. All research conducted within 2022-2024 are welcome to be submitted as abstracts for further shortlisting to join the oral presentation or poster presentation competition. The other abstracts will be invited to be part of the poster exhibition. This time, we will also be open for participation from medical students studying in the two medical schools in Johor (NUMed and Monash).
The hospital CRC of Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru was the second CRC to be established in the southern region of peninsular Malaysia in 2007, existing within the network of 37 CRCs within the Ministry of Health Malaysia. It was the first in the state of Johor, followed by the establishment of the CRC units of Hospital Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru and Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah, Muar in 2012 and 2015 respectively. The CRC network of Johor strives to promote the conduct of high quality and ethically responsible research within Johor. The CRC units also organise professional development courses and assist clinicians and postgraduate students in the conduct of their clinical research projects as well as provide guidance to new investigators and researchers on study design, methodology, protocol writing, statistics consultation et cetera.
